About us at Manor Farm Wools..
As a child I loved visiting the local wool shop with my nan, looking through the patterns then choosing the wool, buttons or tools needed to complete the gift that my sister or I would receive as the autumn approached.
The gifts were invariably hats, scarfs or gloves which we would then often loose at school before the Christmas holidays.
Nan would always then knit a cardigan for Christmas which I then would wear with the special dress that was saved for the holiday period.
I remember those days fondly and the patience my Nan showed in teaching me to knit, a skill I still use today almost 30 years later.
When my own children were small, I struggled to find modern patterns, knitted in modern yarns so would make new or adapt patterns by switching a DK synthetic yarn to a chunky cotton for example to knit pram or car seat blankets, little toys, or cardigans in a more contemporary modern style.
2 years ago, I decided to learn to crochet, it had always escaped me until then and I was always a little bit afraid of it, but loved the creativity that could be achieved with a modern twist.
I persevered and used YouTube to help me, I can read a pattern, but prefer a video tutorial even now. If you would like to learn to crochet, I used Bella Coco via you tube, the beginners link I have attached below, she is clear concise, and you can stop/start the tutorials to perfect your technique.
My challenge now is to teach my 9-year-old how to knit and crochet and hopes she loves it as much as I do, but she’s a leftie and I am struggling ….
Last year, after wanting a change of direction, I began planning Manor Farm Wools, named after our home with my husband, who I dragged in for business support.
I was clear that I wanted to replicate that feeling and excitement of going into the wool shop, choosing a pattern then all the bits to go alongside, rather than just ‘supplying yarn’ like other online wool suppliers.
All our patterns have detailed descriptions of what is required, sizes, no of balls, buttons etc that will be required, so you can use all this information before heading to our Yarn shop to choose your yarns or colours, rather than ordering a pattern, waiting for it to arrive then going back online to order your items a few days later.
We also have pre-prepared knitting or crochet kits to buy that will contain all you require to finish the project you have chosen.
We have a well-stocked haberdashery, for all those extra bits you may require including needles, pom- pom makers, toy stuffing, buttons and beads etc.
We very much hope to be community based also and offer click and collect and regular drops to local knitting or crochet groups, we are happy for you even to pop in whilst passing or visiting.
We really hope you enjoy shopping with us, and we really value your constructive feedback also. If there is something you think we could be doing or products you would like to see, please email sarah@manorfarmwools.com
Enjoy shopping….

Our Promise
We will endeavour to have the lowest prices online in the UK and only sell products of the highest quality and we promise not to create products that force you in to spending more than you need, a practice we have seen with other websites selling similar products, but Manor Farm Wools will not do this as our promise to you.
We’re proud of our green credentials, our website is powered by 100% renewable energy which is great news for the environment. Our UK data centre in London has an extremely low PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) of 1.12. Plus, our Autoscaling Cloud Hosting only uses the resources it needs, so no energy is wasted.
The internet costs a lot to power, over 400 terawatt-hours a year. While an individual website’s footprint is small, it all adds up. The internet is responsible for around 3.7% of global greenhouse gas emissions. That’s similar to the amount produced by the global airline industry.
That’s why Manor Farm Wools are doing our part and powering our website through green technologies. So when you shop with us, you’re doing your part too.
